Certificate IV in Civil Construction Supervision

Civil Construction Supervisors are integral to many different work situations in the Civil Construction Industry. They can be field supervisors, technical supervisors, work supervisors, team leaders, leading hands, foremen, overseers and inspectors, each with responsibility for leading a team towards achieving workplace goals using a team-based approach.

Civil Construction Supervisors perform tasks involving a broad range of civil construction activities most of which can be complex and non-routine and contribute to the development of technical solutions to non-routine problems and therefore must have sound civil construction trade level skills and knowledge.

Requirements for completion of the qualification

The following table provides the packaging rules for this qualification, followed by the list of relevant units of competency.

Successful completion of twelve (12) units of competency made up of:

  • five (5) mandatory units, and
  • seven (7) elective units of which:
    • at least two (2) must come from the specified electives listed below
    • at least two (2) from the general electives listed below
    • up to one (1) unit may come from Certificate III, Certificate IV or Diploma level from this, or any other Training Package

Units chosen must be relevant to the job function.

Care must be taken to ensure that all prerequisites specified within imported units, or units chosen as electives, are complied with.
